As a Worldwide Sponsor, VISA aspired to clearly communicate their exclusivity message to consumers within official Rio 2016 purchase environments, drive VISA transactions, and raise brand and sponsorship awareness among spectators and guests of the Olympic Games.

This monumental task included creative planning, athlete asset development, design, athlete and visual identity system or look-tone-feel application, assembly of all production-ready files, print management, kitting, delivery, deployment, and large format installation.

Exclusivity Message

As a fan at The Games, you may only use your VISA card or cash to make a purchase, making the scale of this assignment massive. We start by placing the exclusive payment message in every unique store and at every cash register within the park. However, with the excitement and buzz surrounding every facet of the fan experience, the attention of the consumer is at a premium. Because of this, VISA is challenged with developing unique and creative pieces that extend beyond the point of purchase to deliver key messages, build excitement and gain brand affinity.

02

Own the Queue

As a fan at an Olympic Park, you’ll find yourself queueing for just about everything. And with most queues ending in a payment, we found it was imperative to “Own the Queues”. From athlete imagery, shaded structures, resting stations, and even livestreams of The Games, we ensured that fans were well taken care of when waiting in line and could not miss the Exclusive Payment message.

Athletes

For each Olympics, VISA sponsors an all-star team of athletes across a wide range of nations, competitions and for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Using their imagery is an easy win when it comes to giving fans a closer look at athlete superstars. From sourcing images, scaling for dozens of different applications, scrubbing logos, retouching for quality and cleanliness, athlete and IOC approvals, the management of athlete assets is an immense assignment in itself.
